TAHOE FAT TIRE FESTIVAL

It was the first time the soils of Squaw Valley have felt the massage like touch of knobby tires down its trails in nearly two mountain bike seasons. With seemingly endless unparalleled terrain, Squaw Valley hosted the 2012 Tahoe Fat Tire Festival, revealing to the world of eager mountain bikers a true diamond in the rouge.

Two main trails were featured, one allowing cross country riders to weave their way through the famous gnarly ski terrain and the other hosting both the super d and downhill events. And, at an 11 minute, 35 second downhill run at the very fastest, the potential of Squaw Valley’s mountain biking scene was felt by all. With places like Whistler, Keystone, and Winter Park pioneering the sport and industry of mountain biking through the concept of the mountain bike park, we hope the Tahoe Fat Tire Festival will not be the last time the Squaw Valley loads happy mountain bikers into its Ariel Tram.
